Why Prime Video shows ads
Amazon moved Prime Video to a model where ads are included by default and ad-free viewing is an extra purchase. Your Prime membership still includes Prime Video, and Amazon said the ads would help it keep investing in content without raising the membership price.
Ads do not disappear completely even if you pay. Amazon says live TV, live events such as sports and some other ad-supported content may still include ads with Prime Video Ultra.

Watching Prime Video with fewer ads in Chrome
BingeLift is a free Chrome extension that includes Prime Video. On the Prime Video website, it empties the ad list before an on-demand movie or episode plays, so the player has no ad breaks to show.
BingeLift’s Prime Video support was checked in India. Ads in other regions can be delivered differently, so some may still appear. BingeLift is not a replacement for Prime Video Ultra or any Amazon plan.
- Install BingeLift from the Chrome Web Store on your computer.
- Open www.primevideo.com in Chrome and sign in with your usual account.
- If Prime Video was already open, refresh the page so BingeLift can start.
- Choose a movie or episode and press play. Use the BingeLift popup to turn Prime Video on or off at any time.
The Prime Video ad blocker page lists exactly what BingeLift covers.
What an extension cannot change
- Live TV and live sport. BingeLift’s Prime Video support is for on-demand movies and episodes.
- The Prime Video apps. Extensions do not run in the Prime Video app on Fire TV, smart TVs, phones or games consoles.
- Your Amazon plan. BingeLift does not unlock titles, add 4K or change your subscription.
If a video will not play, switch BingeLift off for Prime Video and refresh. The playback help steps cover the rest.
